BlackBerry KeyOne review TechRada

The keyboard's space bar key comes loaded with a fingerprint scanner, which during my tests proved reliable and the use of a USB-C port and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 tech ensures it should match. It's odd seeing a BlackBerry phone in 2018, with that same QWERTY keyboard you might remember from 2008. Physical keyboards are so rare these days, it's hard to find one that isn't in a. This is a smartphone that gets stuff done. It may not be a phone for heavy gamers or media users, but it’s perfect for those constantly in communication with friends and coworkers, or for productivity-focused users who rely on their phones to keep their lives balanced. The addition of a physical keyboard only makes this point even more true, as the endless amount of keyboard shortcuts and ease of use makes multitasking and sending quick messages that much easier.

Buying in bulk for employees? You'll appreciate the front-and-center DTEK security app, solid battery life and BlackBerry Hub. There’s no excuse for workers to miss your messages now. It's also cheaper than other top phones. The fix for this was to disable ALL of the Blackberry software and enter Android’s Developer Mode and limit background processes to no-more-than three. Doing this made the phone functional again but the user experience was diminished. Losing the Blackberry apps wasn’t the end of the world but having regular apps start-up from scratch almost every time got old quickly. You’d have to power cycle regularly and doing that meant setting up the developer tweaks all over again.

BlackBerry KeyOne Review: In Praise of the Keyboard Tom

iPhone 8 vs. BlackBerry KEYone: If You Value Life the BlackBerry Is Better 1. A focus on business and communications, 2. Battery life measured in days and not hours, and 3. A keyboard which you could blind type on. This last turned out to be extremely important because, with the keyboard and some practice, you could do things like drive and. DTEK is the security app that keeps your phone safe. It constantly monitors your device’s security status level and gives you a rating. You can review permissions of every app to understand the information they can access, and keep track of vulnerabilities. DTEK is the one BlackBerry app you never want to really have to use.

BlackBerry KEYone review: Getting stuff done - Android

Blackberry Key 3 price in Bangladesh is around 81,990 BDT, and it has the body dimensions of 150.3 x 71.8 x 8.4 mm, and 156 g weight. It has an IPS Capacitive touch screen 16 million colors. And the display size is 5.5 inches, with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels (19.5:9 Ratio) 408 PPI pixel The story does change a little with the BlackBerry KeyOne Black Edition. With 64GB of internal storage, there is a lot more room to spread out, most people will find it to be enough.  For smartphone owners who can't decide between a touchscreen and a hardware keyboard, the BlackBerry KEYone offers the best of both worlds. The 4.5-inch 1620 x 1080 IPS LCD display adds Gorilla Glass 4 technology for greater protection against bumps or drops, while the Snapdragon 625 processor pairs with 4GB of RAM for smooth day-to-day performance It tries to pull off a 3D touch shortcuts interface within its homescreen apps, but it’s not fleshed out. Swiping up on apps sometimes get you a mini window of the app’s most important information (helpful), but too many apps don’t support this yet; it’s just option to add widgets to the homescreen (not helpful). The keyboard on the BlackBerry KEY2 is hands down the best keyboard ever on a BlackBerry to date and don't say this lightly as I've used 15 different BlackBerry devices over a 14-year period. The keys are 20% bigger than the KEYone and the far bigger than the slide out keyboard featured on the PRIV

BlackBerry KEYone: Black Edition Review: Extra memory

In order to tether or use your device as a mobile hotspot, you need a capable device and a compatible data plan. A capable device can be a smartphone, tablet, or other 4G LTE device with tethering capabilities or a dedicated hotspot device. Learn more about dedicated hotspot devices. A compatible data plan allows you to use your capable device as a mobile hotspot Both Joshua Vergara and I, Jimmy Westenberg, have been testing the BlackBerry KEYone with model number BBB100-1 on build number AAK831 running Android 7.1.1 Nougat, with the April 5, 2017 security update. We’ve been testing pre-production software, so some of the software and performance issues may be fixed by the time the phone comes to market. We will update this review if anything changes.Show MoreAt $899, it’s now the same price as the original and one of the cheapest flagship models around. All in all, this really is one of the very best phones you can buy. If typing is important to you it should be near the top of your list. -The Keyboard is superb and premium quality, best BlackBerry Keyboard I've ever used. Previous experience on the PRIV, Q10, Passport, Bold and Curve series phones. Absolutely excellent for emails and messaging. The one drawback I do have to mention is the phones aspect ratio of 4:3 We’re also surprised the BlackBerry KeyOne doesn’t have a dual nano SIM tray when many unlocked phones out of China now have a second SIM / microSD card tray. This just has the latter, to the chagrin of jet-setting international business travelers.

4.5in, 1080 x 1620 (422ppi) LCD screen, 64GB/4GB, 2GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 CPU, Adreno 506 GPU, 12MP rear and 8MP front cameras, full QWERTY ‘multitouch’ keyboard, microSD, USB-C, Android 7.1, 3505mAh battery, 154 x 76 x 8mm, 180g. Full specs here. The BlackBerry KeyOne display shares the front face of the phone with the keyboard, so it can’t compare to an trendy new all-screen Android phone. You just can't have everything in life.

I would have been nice to see the stippled soft touch plastic rear make way for a sheet of matte aluminium, given the higher price point and more premium focus.TCL’s influence is plainly seen in the inclusion of the Convenience Key, a facet of its more recent Alcatel smartphones. Though keyboard shortcuts may become the main way of opening applications, the Convenience Key allows for access to one app or shortcut from anywhere in the phone, including from standby. Josh had a little trouble trying to figure out what to program to it, since the camera shortcut of pressing power twice is already available. In my case, I found Google Voice Search to be the best way to use the button, which is sitting just below the volume rocker. So, the hardcore media consumer or gamer won’t have the best time with the KEYone. And while the combination of lower-end specifications are to blame for this, we feel that the 3 GB of RAM is the most noticeable issue. The settings screen will pretty much always say that the 2.8 GB of usable RAM is maybe 2.3 or 2.5 GB full, so it was easy to point at that as an issue. After making a few battery optimizations (main one was putting the screen brightness very low) I got an easy 3 days with medium use (setting up the phone, playing music, downloading and running apps, played a game or 2), and even got 7 days with light use (mainly just messaged people)., The keyboard is also nice to use., But the feature that I.

The KEYone is running Android 7.1.1 Nougat, which comes with a fair amount of BlackBerry’s own customizations on top. You wouldn’t necessarily know it though, as BlackBerry doesn’t really stray too far from what we know as “vanilla” Android. BlackBerry's KeyOne has a face with a front-facing camera, an LED notification light, capacitive buttons, and a big keyboard. Now let's talk about that keyboard Paired with the cutting-edge Android Nougat OS and the best battery life I’ve seen on a handset this year, the KEYone essentially achieves this goal and is a solid choice for hardcore BlackBerry fans hankering for a decent work handset.

Despite looking retro BlackBerry’s also managed to load the KEYone with all the kit and connectivity you’d expect from a 2017 flagship. We raved about the Blackberry KEYone last year. The great performance, price, features and the super-accurate keyboard made for one of the very best phones of the year. However, several weeks after posting the review, the phone started to slow down. A lot. And in a way that we'd not seen an Android phone do in generations BlackBerry KeyOne has a main 12MP camera that captures large 1.55um and we found it to do a superb job in daylight and a decent job in low light, too. A lot of this is thanks to multi-frame low light capabilities that try to suss out the best photo from multiple shots. 1 This is the cheapest laptop with 8GB RAM, and it even comes with Windows 10 Pro 2 Could the Samsung Galaxy Note 20's fiercest competitor be a cheap Motorola phone? 3 6 new TV shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streamers this week 4 Google is making another game-changing update to Chrome 5 A Game Boy for 2020: we ask Panic all about its crazy Playdate handheld 1 Get incredible deals on Samsung smartphones - but be quick 2 Questo è il notebook più lento del mondo, ma lo vogliono tutti 3 AMD threatens to wreck Nvidia’s launch party with monster graphics card release 4 Rubati i dati di più di 20 milioni di persone... ma non si sa da dove arrivino 5 iOS 13.5 is imminent – here's why its the iPhone update you've been waiting for TechRadar is part of Future US Inc, an international media group and leading digital publisher. Visit our corporate site. The BlackBerry KEYone has so many things going. Aside from awesome battery life, the BlackBerry KEYone has a good camera, one of the best keyboards on Android, and a software suite to help you do.

BlackBerry's camera app is unfixable nuisance. It has very few modes (Photo, Pano, Video and Slow-Mo) and they’re all hidden in a mode menu. That means you have to dig into a menu to switch between photos and videos instead of having available on the screen at all times. It’s a cumbersome, unintuitive mess.In the UK, it was launched early at London's prestigious Selfridges and eventually came to Carphone Warehouse on May 5. More UK retailers and carriers have come on board, including John Lewis and Currys. One of the biggest reasons to buy a BlackBerry phone is for the software. Not only is the software on the KEYone refined and a joy to use, the extra security benefits will help keep your information safe and secure. Before we get into that, though, let’s talk about the basics.Normally when we talk about single bottom-firing speakers, we also gripe about how easy they are to cover up when playing games. That’s actually not the case here, as sound tends to bleed through the physical keyboard on the front of the device. So even if you do cover up the speaker grill by accident, it’s not the end of the world.Move over, Samsung Galaxy S8. The BlackBerry KeyOne is the latest smartphone comeback story of 2017, even if the company behind it is really just China’s TCL Communications.

BlackBerry KEYone Review Trusted Review

  1. Outside of this the screen is pretty good. The 1620 x 1080 resolution gives the display a crisp 434ppi (pixels per inch) density, ensuring text and icons look uniformly sharp. The IPS panel also offers suitably clean whites and, although the blacks aren’t as inky as on AMOLED phone screens, such as the Galaxy S8’s, they’re suitably deep. Colours are also reasonably good and don’t look too cool or overcooked.
  2. One area in which the KEYone excels is in battery life, and that’s thanks to the non-removable 3,505 mAh unit. We’ve both been able to achieve about 4.5 hours of screen-on time on a regular basis, with average use. But that’s just for everyday use. In some cases, both Josh and I have achieved 6+ hours of screen-on time, and that includes browsing through social media and watching the occasional YouTube video.
  3. Opening up the app drawer reveals a list of all your applications in alphabetical order, with two rows of recently-used apps on the top. Above that, you’ll find three tabs, which allow you to swipe between your apps, widgets, and shortcuts. We know some users are big fans of this app drawer layout, but on the KEYone, things are cluttered enough as is due to the shorter, wider display. We wish BlackBerry would do away with this tabbed layout and instead embrace Google’s method of accessing apps and shortcuts – by long-pressing on the home screen.
  4. The BlackBerry Keyone has a Nokia 3310-nostalgia element to it. One of the first phones I owned was the BlackBerry 8820, I got it as I started out freelance technology journalist and wanted to.
  5. If you're considering a BlackBerry, you're probably looking for a physical keyboard. And reviews for this one are great. They've included gesture based controls that allow you to use the keyboard as a track pad. There's also per-key shortcuts to put virtually anything on your phone a button press away

Capacitive keys are the preferred method of UI navigation for BlackBerry, its middle-path choice between hardware keys and the more common softkeys of current Android Nougat devices. While they are reliable, it took a bit to get used to because the key target doesn’t seem to be squarely on the white icons. Instead, they felt a little bit lower of the designated area, closer to the keyboard. For a few pennies more, an all-black model is also available for the discerning executive (dubbed 'Black Edition'), with a little more RAM and internal storage to boot.BlackBerry KeyOne's has a stock Android vibe, but we found the tweaked recent menu helpful. It opens up your most recent apps in an assorted gridview that's easier to browse through than with the fanned-out look of every other phone. The bigger issue is how the keyboard affects media consumption and gaming. Putting aside the fact that the keyboard reduces the screen size, the way it juts out of the bottom makes playing games, which are generally designed to work in landscape, a little awkward.

BlackBerry Mobile nailed the hardware side of the keyboard here. Naturally, being a BlackBerry, the keyboard has remained one of the highlights as well. In our initial review, we noted that the KEY2 keyboard was one of the best BlackBerry keyboards ever built and that remains true Its Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core chipset is fast enough for most day-to-day work tasks, and its 64-bit capabilities ensure multitasking is fairly smooth. There’s also the classic BlackBerry Hub, which is a catch-all app for all the communication apps installed on your phone (well, most of them). Whether you’re using Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Slack, or pretty much any other messaging app you can think of, the BlackBerry Hub lets you see all of your messages in chronological order. If that’s too overwhelming for you, you can also switch between your list of accounts and filter between them.Say what you will about its slower Snapdragon 625 chipset; it's at least battery efficient. Watching an HD video for 90 minutes at full brightness only took the battery down to 89%, losing a very respectable 11%.

BlackBerry KEYone phone Review: So Blackberry just made

BlackBerry did, however, include a double tap to wake feature for the KEYone’s display, which is really handy if you need to wake the device’s display when it’s sitting on a desk or table. A one-paragraph email took me a little over five minutes to type on the BlackBerry Key2, something that would have taken less than a minute on a digital keyboard BlackBerry Hub is the highlight of the software. It combines your notifications, messages calls, and events into one streamlined location. You can easily sift through almost every account in your hectic work life: BlackBerry Messenger, texts, email, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Slack, WhatsApp and Twitter. The battery life on the BlackBerry KeyOne is one of the best we've used so far this year. No exaggeration. Thanks to making full use of Android Nougat's enhanced Doze mode, standby time uses very. Its occasional slowdown and single-SIM support shouldn’t turn you off if you love the keyboard, but it is an odd pairing: mid-range specs with high-end phone design and software features.

BlackBerry KeyOne Review, Specs, Price and More Digital

This is a smartphone for people who like different. BlackBerry really thought out of the box with the KEYone, and in doing so, produced a well-built, productivity-focused smartphone that not only looks different, but isn’t anything like the other phones on the market. The BlackBerry KeyOne has an air of sophistication, even as it blends the old and the new technology. BlackBerry’s signature keyboard is a welcomed change if you miss the tactile feedback of a real smartphone keyboard. There are 35-chiclet-style keys, and each one it properly backlit with no need for an on-screen keyboard to hog your display. On the bottom of the device there are two speaker grills, though only the right one is a speaker. Speaker quality is pretty poor for the most part; it doesn’t get very loud when listening to music or podcasts, though it should be good enough to use during speakerphone calls in most cases. As such, Josh found himself doing what he called ‘Clear All Maintenance,’ a practice in which he went to the recent apps screen and hit Clear All both randomly and before loading certain apps like emulators. This turned into a subconscious habit — one that Josh felt improved the general daily usage — but one situation constantly frustrated him: Android Auto. About half of the time, the plugged in KEYone would hang for a noticeable amount of time before loading the Android Auto interface in his Volkswagen GTI infotainment system. It never crashed once loaded, but the pause was hard to brush off.

It feels like a 5.5-inch display thanks to its familiar 3-inch width, and we wouldn’t want it much longer. Anything taller would make this already 180g phone feel top-heavy when holding the very bottom of the keyboard. 48 Common items in both devices: 2.2Ghz 64bit Octa-Core: 6GB LPDDR4: 64GB (52GB user free) Until 256GB microSD, microSDXC: 168 grams (5.88 ounces) 8.5 millimeters (0.33 inches

The BlackBerry Hub continues to play a major role on this phone, as the one place you come to receive all your communication, instead of needing to fumble from one app to the next VerdictThis is a unique smartphone and can't really be judged as an equal with others in its price class. It clearly targets a niche, but what's unknown at this point is whether the target audience is big enough. Even if there are people who like the idea or the memory of a physical keyboard, will they be willing to accept the tradeoffs that this phone demands? In a universe of sleek metal phones with borderless screens and curved glass everywhere, the KEYone is a bit of a brute and we're not sure we would like this as our primary phones, even though we can really make use of its productivity features. The BlackBerry KEYOne's dimensions were 149.3 mm x 72.5 mm x 9.4 mm with a weight of 180 grams. The newer BlackBerry Key2 has the following dimensions 151.4mm x 71.8mm x 8.5mm with a weight of 168 grams. The Key2's keyboard has a matte finish, compared to the glossy one on the original KEYone Originally known as the BlackBerry ‘Mercury’, the KEYone is a new productivity-focused smartphone that aims to be different on both the outside and inside. Sporting a physical keyboard, solid design, and a slew of BlackBerry’s built-in security features, is KEYone right for you?At this price, the inclusion of an LCD rather than a more punchy and colorful AMOLED screen feels a little like unnecessarily cost cutting, especially for the more premium Black Edition.

  1. So, this is a great and thorough (and no holds barred) response. I mean, I've basically ridden my Classic to death. It works, but it's starting to get really laggy while still using the native Reddit app, and I can no longer do my online banking as the app will no longer run in the OS10 emulation and the browser hangs on loading the bank's webpage at this point
  2. The KEYone smartphone is the first BlackBerry smartphone with a classic keyboard layout since, well, the Classic that launched in early 2015 (we don't count the Priv that launched in late 2015 because it had a sliding keyboard). With BlackBerry's signature clicky keyboard sitting right below its display, and with Android on board, the $549.
  3. The keyboard layout, button placement, and sometimes awkward marriage of hardware and software all show where the KEYone found its balance, but there are still some seams between the Android and BlackBerry worlds.
  4. BlackBerry KeyOne doesn’t have an always-on screen for anything else, it always lets you know the charging percentage and slowly growing a red and then green bar along the side of the screen whenever it’s plugged in.

Does this new BlackBerry phone have enough of an enterprise advantage to lure you back from your on-screen, makebelieve keyboard? Let’s get down to business and put it to the test.Once you get your grip sorted and get used to the layout, typing with two thumbs is not hard. The keys themselves are extremely wobbly which makes it little uncertain. The three main rows extend right up to the phone's edges on both sides, and the keys at the ends of each row are very easy to snag on fingernails, loose threads, and assorted little things you might have in your pockets. We were afraid that we'd accidentally rip these keys right off the phone. The KeyOne can shoot 4K video at 30 frames per second and 1080p at 60fps. Typing with one thumb on the BlackBerry KeyOne yielded a sluggish 20.2 words per minute, versus 24.8 words per minute with touch typing on the iPhone, and 35.1 words per minute with gesture typing However, several weeks after posting the review, the phone started to slow down. A lot. And in a way that we’d not seen an Android phone do in generations. It got to the point where all actions came with two seconds of lag before executing while at other times the phone would just hang. There were major memory management issues and, frankly, not enough memory in the first place to support all of the Blackberry software.

The stock BlackBerry launcher comes with a ton of useful features that we have grown very fond of. The most convenient feature present are pop-up widgets, which are denoted on each application icon with three small white dots. Swiping up or down on an app icon will bring up your widget of choice, which is a super easy way to access information without opening the app. We’d like to give credit to BlackBerry for implementing this feature in their launcher, but it’s a shameless ripoff of Action Launcher 3’s Shutters. At any rate, they work super well, and we’re happy the feature is there. BlackBerry KeyOne is a sophisticated-looking smartphone that resurrects a physical keyboard in the modern Android era. The 4.5-inch screen’s 3:2 aspect ratio is another minor issue that makes some applications, and particularly video content, look a little odd. Its blend of style, solid performance, a fantastic physical keyboard and a long-lasting battery more than enough to win over one-time BlackBerry devotees and people who hate typing on touchscreens Next to the volume buttons on the side, there's an action key that defaults to opening the Messaging Hub, because with a BlackBerry, you should never be more than one key press away from messaging

The keyboard has 3 function keys alt, sym and up arrow (I'll call that shift). Each key on the keyboard is capable of outputting 3 characters, eg the k key can do k, K and ' As typing experiences go the KEYone’s keyboard is one of the best I’ve tested, featuring solid autocorrect and a nifty flick system that lets you quickly accept on-screen word suggestions. I’m not convinced that younger buyers raised on touchscreens will be able to type faster, however. After a solid week using the KEYone I still found using the physical keyboard a little odd and had to think about what I was doing more than I’d like. With prolonged use I can see it being great for power users who have to edit lengthier documents on their phone. This is mainly because the backlit ‘smart’ keyboard features the same gesture touch tech as seen on the Priv, which lets you use it as a trackpad. There’s little point in going over the original review. Everything is the same! We’ve learned some things along the way, however. One of the best parts of the BlackBerry KEYone and KEY2 is the iconic physical keyboard. There is one major downside, though: By default, the virtual keyboard appears on these devices even when typing on the physical keyboard. Luckily, there's a way to change that Blackberry KeyOne is a piece of garbage and the company is a joke! Oh, and one more thing. Don't look for support on Crackberry forums because they are a bunch of Blackberry fanboys that will make up all kinds of excuses to support their beloved Blackberry. After all, if Blackberry goes out of business so will Crackberry It does take several hours of typing to re-learn how use it. At first, it’s problematic. Excellent keyboard, handy new Speed Key. Beautiful design. You won't get the best selfies from the front-facing camera, even though the rear camera is pretty good. Lowlight causes too much blurring and switching between the two camera in the main app is a confusing mess. The only minor negative is that viewing angles aren’t quite as wide as I’d like on a phone in the KEYone’s price bracket, though considering the fact most people won’t want to use it to watch movies or TV shows, this is a minor quibble. It is to avoid this kind of problem that it is necessary to use a leather coating. With this Blackberry Key2 leather case, your smartphone will be protected from external aggressions such as dust or water splash, or various shocks during transport, as well as scratches on the chassis or the 4.5-inch screen Perhaps one of the only software features that are missing from the KEYone is a blue light filter, which has become an increasingly popular feature in Android phones lately. This example also shows how the physical keyboard keeps the screen from getting cluttered. Without a virtual keyboard to take up close to half of the available screen real estate, the important bits are unhindered. Think YouTube and then Facebook Messenger in multiwindow mode, where your keyboard typing is simply out of the way.

Compare Blackberry KEY2 LE (KEY2 Lite) vs Blackberry

  1. So the keyboard in the latest BlackBerry can't compare to one of the brand's best. However, it does have a few party tricks that the Bold and Curve never could pull off. For one, there's a.
  2. I bet that many users are looking forward to setting up their keyboard shortcuts — be forewarned, however, that the shortcuts require the BlackBerry Launcher to be in use. The home screens monitor for short or long presses in order to trigger any of the programmed apps or shortcuts, which means tapping home and then the desired shortcut key whenever necessary. Any third party launcher will break this functionality. While that is a bummer, we explain later on how we love the BlackBerry software and find that we didn’t really feel the need to change launchers. In other launchers, however, any presses on the keyboard will instantly trigger Device Search, which easily brings up shortcuts to the same apps and shortcuts.
  3. With an extra 1GB of RAM there is a small, but palpable difference in performance, with things running a little more smoothly.
  4. My only qualm with the KEYone’s design is that the keyboard leads to some pretty serious trade-offs for regular users that primarily use their phone for entertainment. The addition of the keyboard and all the clever tech inside means the KEYone is pretty chunky, measuring in at 9.4mm and weighing 180g.

BlackBerry KeyOne review: part productivity, part

BlackBerry now licenses its name and its software to other companies. TCL - which holds the rights for most of the world excluding India, Indonesia, and a few other Asian markets where the brand is still popular - launched its first BlackBerry product, the KEYone, earlier this year. In India, the rights have been acquired by Optiemus Infracom, a name that might not immediately be familiar. However, this company has a lot of history in the Indian phone space. According to Optiemus, it sold India's first mobile phone back in 1995, and it now operates the Univercell retail chain and Zen brand of phones.Showing the handset to a family friend’s teenage kids, the duo’s reaction was a PG-13 “what the (fudge) is that?” But an older relative who spent most of her career bashing out emails on QWERTY BlackBerry keyboards all but squealed with glee when I demoed the KEYone to her.The display packs a 1620 x 1080 resolution, with a pixel density of 433 ppi. No, it’s not as pixel-dense as a Quad HD screen, but it’s certainly sharp enough for enjoying YouTube videos and playing games.

The BlackBerry KEYone camera app offers a slow-mo video mode and several combinations of resolutions and framerates. Recording can go up to 4K/ 30fps but only for five minutes at a time. Software stabilisation only works at up to 1080p/ 30fps. Videos taken at 1080p and 4K looked crisp, and motion was smooth. While it’s easy to view the performance as the worst part, we have to remind users that the KEYone is geared toward productivity and enterprise. And in that specific scope, the phone performs swimmingly. Workflows will differ between users, but we didn’t feel slowed down in any productivity-centric situation. We were messaging colleagues on Slack while jumping between the Hub for e-mails, sliding over the Productivity Tab to view upcoming tasks or calendar entries, and popping back to the home screen to quickly load any application via keyboard shortcuts — lather, rinse, repeat. Even dual window multitasking is possible, as Josh played YouTube while responding to emails on multiple occasions. Just don’t expect this phone to be able to do everything all at once, all the time. We have never really had a BlackBerry phone with a truly great camera, those a lot of the recent phones have definitely been good. One example is the BlackBerry Priv. The Key 2 also remains in the good category, with the dual 12-megapixel cameras. The good light photos are quite well detailed, even though colours seem a tad subdued What makes it most convenient, at least when setting up the phone for the first time, is the fact that all of your services will be added to the Hub and logged in automatically.

  2. If that's not enough for you, there's even a convenience key on the side to pair to just one app, although you'll probably muddle it and the power key at first. Battery life. BlackBerry's boast.
  3. That’s not to say this is a perfect smartphone; performance is lacking in some areas, and the camera could be much better. Still, it’s a completely different experience from what we normally get with Android smartphones, and BlackBerry definitely deserves credit for that.

In the US, there are two versions: an unlocked edition that’s GSM and CDMA capable across the networks, and a summer-bound CDMA model for Sprint. The end result is a handset that looks a little like a stretched-out BlackBerry Passport, where the keyboard sits beneath a rectangular touchscreen. The aluminium chassis and textured back cover continue the KEYone’s retro feel but will divide opinion.

Dell Technologies ramps up Google Cloud integration

With some imagination, there are many possibilities provided by the KEYone’s physical keyboard. As you may have surmised from earlier statements about the BlackBerry Launcher and shortcuts, the only thing limiting this keyboard is the company’s own oversight. It would be nice for a swipe down on the keyboard to reveal the notification dropdown, for example. And if long presses on the keys could still do shortcuts no matter what launcher is in use, that would please many users who prefer their third party launchers. But there is definitely a ton to fun to be had with a physical keyboard, so many Josh wasn’t so crazy to be such an advocate for it in past Android Authority Podcast episodes. Tiny, tactile physical keyboards were BlackBerry's bread-and-butter, once, so it feels right that one should sit so centrally on the KeyOne. It's not hidden away like it was on the Priv, but proudly positioned underneath the phone's 4.5in screen. That makes it a lot harder to ignore in favour of an on-screen option. It looks pretty small at first glance, but if anyone knows a thing or two. We raved about the Blackberry KEYone last year. The great performance, price, features and the super-accurate keyboard made for one of the very best phones of the year. During calls, it functions as a mute button, which we found useful. It’s easy to remember this button exists during active calls, not when you’re first picking up your smartphone from a table. “Again, with the camera opening?!” If you go on a blackberry forum they will tell you to buy blackberry. You basically need to know what your needs are, research the phones, preferably play with both then make your own mind up. 09-12-18 10:06 P

BlackBerry KeyOne is a smartphone built for today’s workaholics right down to the battery life. It lasted us almost a day and a half in our battery life tests. We found ourselves making fewer typing mistakes going back to a BlackBerry, but overall slower in our characters-per-minute output. We.e were never faster versus typing on an on-screen keyboard, just more accurate and less autocorrect dependent. The Good The BlackBerry Key2 improves on the KeyOne across the board. Outdoor daytime photos are crisp and bright, and portrait mode works well. Keyboard shortcuts that open other apps are.

You’ll find split-screen multitasking thanks to Android 7.1 Nougat, but it’s a bit cramped. There are a few sacrifices if you want a keyboard on a smartphone in the modern day.The good news is that this flaw has been addressed as an issue in the manufacturing process by TCL, and a fix was implemented to ensure new handsets rolling off the production line wouldn't suffer the same fate. Firstly, fans of the brand will be glad to hear that the keyboard is one of the features that we love about the KEYone. BlackBerry Keyone - User opinions and review

  1. g, the KEYone eventually becomes a very comfortable device to handle on the daily. BlackBerry basically updated their Classic and Bold devices for the current Android era, and to great effect — the KEYone is the only device of its kind in the flagship space, managing to find the best middle ground for every feature splayed on its body. We applaud BlackBerry for putting some real thought into the KEYone without going too far with certain aspects like the phone’s thickness or the screen’s smaller size to make room for the keyboard.
  2. Average rear-facing camera Apps can be slow to launch Graphic performance is disappointing Bottom-firing speaker doesn't get very loud 32 GB is the only storage option
  3. The keyboard’s space bar key comes loaded with a fingerprint scanner, which during my tests proved reliable and the use of a USB-C port and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 tech ensures it should match rivals for data transfer and charge speeds.

It’s exactly the same as the original Keyone except that it has a 64GB/4GB storage/RAM combo instead of 32GB/3GB. Its existence is almost a tacit admission that the original model had a serious flaw. BlackBerry's KEYone is a good, but expensive special device for users who enjoy working with a physical keyboard and for whom the many security features are important Video đánh giá, giới thiệu Blackberry Key One - Silver - Chính hãng Nội dung đang được cập nhật. Overall, we’re really happy with the KEYone’s software. It’s not perfect, but it certainly helps you get things done quickly. And it looks good while doing it, too.No, the rubberized back isn’t really leather, but it gives that impression. The aluminum frame is scratch-resistant and stood up to our minor testing abuse. Not everyone has had such luck, with a few people reporting that the screen pops out rather easily with a little bend.BlackBerry Hub works because of deep customization. You customize alert rules to effortlessly toggle which accounts show up instead of doing it one-by-one. In our custom 'Vacation Mode,’ we turned off Twitter, Slack and work email alerts, but kept texts and Facebook Messenger enabled.  We reserved it in our ‘Daily Work Day’ recipe for a productive day – all done without unticking individual account boxes each time. The surface of the keyboard is touch-sensitive, a feature that we first saw and loved on the BlackBerry Passport. You can slide across it to scroll up, down, left or right just like you would on a trackpad. When typing, you can hold Shift down and swipe around to select text. The surface is, of course, uneven and it's a bit difficult to be precise, but it's still very cool. Buried deep within the Settings app, you'll find an option that enables Swype-style typing over the physical keyboard, but at the cost of all other gestures. It also starts with 32GB of internal storage, not 64GB, and while it has a microSD card slot, it doesn’t turn into a second nano SIM slot for dual-SIM use.

There's a 3505mAh battery, and Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 feature is supported. The rear camera has a 12-megapixel sensor while the one in front comes in at 8 megapixels. You also get Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and even FM radio. In good lighting conditions, it isn’t hard to get a good photo for sharing on social media or otherwise — in low light, however, the camera suffers from a lack of optical image stabilization, meaning slower shutter speeds will cause motion blur and hurt the overall picture. We don’t think that the camera is terrible in any particular regard, it just doesn’t offer as much as pretty much any other high-end device that we’ve seen in 2017.

The good news is that the blended fingerprint sensor works really well here with a near 0% fail rate (assuming your fingers aren't wet). It’s also easy to access on the front and it can wake the phone from a screen-off state.Turning on HDR helps, but we found photos to generally be a little darker than we would have liked without editing them first to increase exposure. Touchscreens were seen as the future too. The famous QWERTY keyboard, once the high-flyer's must-have was now seen as old hat. BlackBerry eventually became a software brand. Now it has been licensed by the Chinese firm, TCL. BlackBerry KEYone revie These keys function the same as they would across any typical Android device, and there is no changing their behavior. It would have been nice to program the capacitive keys, gesture keyboard swipes, or even the Convenience Key to the notification dropdown, which is the only tough part of the handling experience.BlackBerry Messenger is viable messaging app, but hardly the best. We liked the Time and Retract feature (Snapchat for grown ups), but were less impressed by its sponsored ads and lack of a desktop companion app. This is an enterprise phone, right?

We've seen candybars and sliders; touchscreens and keyboards; budget and ultra-premium; traditional and experimental; BlackBerry OS and Android. Every time the company seemed to be moving in one direction, it would reverse course. You can read about each of these missteps in great detail in our analysis of the BlackBerry Z3 (Review), Passport (Review), Classic (Review), Leap (Review), Priv (Review), and DTEK50 (Review). In tracing that journey, you can see how the company tried desperately to attract new users, then settled for clinging to its dwindling fanbase and then finally gave up all hope. BlackBerry's KeyOne offers an excellent keyboard, where every key can act like shortcuts for apps and actions. It has more than a day of battery capacity, and is equipped with a capable rear camera

This duplication shows us that the hardware and software aren't perfectly in tune. Another example of this is the fact that you can't just start typing even when it would be obvious to do so. For example, you should be able to start searching through the Play Store or typing into a new browser tab's URL field immediately. Instead, you have to tap each field to activate it first, like you were pulling up an on-screen keyboard. This is unnecessary friction, and you can see that the native BlackBerry search app doesn't suffer from it. Another small issue is that the placement of the Android navigation buttons disrupts the continuity of the hardware-software keyboard. Review: BlackBerry KEYone. Hardware Software Wrap-Up Comments . May 4, 2017, 8:00 AM by Eric M. Zeman @zeman_e. The KEYone is made by TCL and it runs Google's Android operating system, but this.

Multimedia buffs will still miss the larger screen, but we’ve reached a point where we use the hardware keyboard AND the software keyboard (with its clever shortcuts) to really make typing a joy. That doesn’t leave much screen but the typing usability beats everything else on the market. Many of the features of this new BlackBerry forego subtlety, showing proudly their capabilities. The camera packages on the front and back are large and obvious, while the thicker aluminum body all around rocks the side buttons prominently. An array of capacitive keys sit plainly in view between the screen and the keyboard, as the backing of the device helps handling via a rubberized plastic material.Membership is free, and your security and privacy remain protected. The ad says An Icon Reborn - and when you type on it you will know why- because it feels just like the old Bold keyboard. Only thing missing is the curved frets. But the keyboard feel is fantastic- MUCH improved over the KEYone First released: April 27, 2017 Blackberry KeyOne troubleshooting, repair, and service manuals

The KEYone is the latest handset from former smartphone heavyweight BlackBerry. It aims to offer the classic BlackBerry keyboard experience to old-school folks who remember the original Bold. Blackberry continues to offer devices with physical keyboards with its latest phone- the Blackberry KEYone. Launched in February of 2017, the KEYone has a 4.5 inch display with 1080x1620 pixels. The odd resolution is because of the keyboard which takes up about 1/4th of the front of the phone. The Snapdragon 625 chipset has an octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and an Adreno 506 GPU. With 32GB. Firstly, the lumpen chassis seriously benefits from a case – we bought a cheap one from eBay for $10. This not only stops the smooth chassis from slipping out of hands and pockets so easily, but also protects it on the fewer occasions that it still does so.

Also, like with the Passport, there's a hybrid component to this keyboard. When typing, you can see three autocomplete suggestions in a row on the bottom of the screen. Swiping upwards on the keyboard below it "flings" that word to where your cursor is. Pressing the Sym key brings up an on-screen symbol selector, which is actually one panel of the same keyboard we've seen on BlackBerry's all-touch Android phones. With one tap, you can switch to the standard QWERTY panel (with a horizontal numbers bar). You even get auto complete suggestions at your fingertips right on the soft keys. And in case you were wondering, the KEYone doesn’t support any form of wireless charging. Womp womp. Now this one is a double edged sword. The front facing camera is definitely one of the best ones I've used in a while. Even better than my iPhone 7 Plus. The back camera however, is where I have my concerns. Yes it shares a sensor with the Google Pixel, but the software side is lackluster. Low light pictures often blur even when the preview.

We reiterate the focus of this phone — getting things done — and the camera is another example of that mentality. Even BlackBerry know this — while the company touts the rear camera for its capabilities (on paper), it clearly makes the point of mentioning video conference calls using the front facing 8MP camera. BlackBerry KEYone display. The BlackBerry KEYone features a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display with full HD resolution (1620 x 1080 pixels). Unlike the latest innovations, such as the Galaxy S8 or LG G6. The BlackBerry KEY2 arrives as the successor to the award-winning BlackBerry KEYone and is the second QWERTY device released through the TCL/BlackBerry partnership. Rather than making a huge leap and changing everything, the KEY2 improves upon the KEYone base with updated internals for better performance, enhancements to the camera, and a more comfortable keyboard that packs new tricks with.

The entire keyboard also acts as a trackpad, so you can scroll through menus and web pages as you lightly pet the keys. You, again, don’t need to put your fingers on the screen. The rear material and the thicker body make this phone fairly comfortable to handle in one hand, but such usage is definitely not a focus of a phone rocking a physical keyboard. We will talk more extensively about the keyboard later, but just know that typing with one hand using the physical keys is about the only part of the phone that is stuck in the past.Loading graphics-intensive apps was the main issue, with higher-end games and emulators hanging for a bit before actually launching after a tap. Once in the game, however, the experience was smooth without much slowdown. However, on plenty of occasions both Josh and myself experienced slowdowns when opening up other applications when these games continued running or were pushed to the background (read: in the RAM).
