Checkmark latex

In an old .Rnw file I was using the RODBC package to read an excel sheet and display a latex table containing checkmarks.. Recently, I tried to change the way I used to read the excel file, and use the XLConnect package instead of RODBC, but I came across a problem.I can't make the checkmark symbol be displayed correctly anymore \documentclass{article} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{marvosym} \begin{document} \CheckedBox% from wasysym \Checkedbox% from marvosym \end{document} With the enumitem package you can use label={} to specify it on a per instance basis, or use \setlist[itemize,<n>]{label=<symbol>} to set it based on the nesting level, where: <symbol> is to be used at the given nesting level <n>:. Here I have used the \checkmark from the amsfonts package, but you can use any symbol you like.. References: If you need depper lists see A five level deep list

You can opt for this font in step 3 of the procedure above, and you can substitute one of the following character codes in step 4. For the the complete list of the first 256 Windows ALT Codes, visit Windows ALT Codes for Special Characters & Symbols. You could overlay two symbols using \rlap as shown below. The use of \text should ensure that the checkmark is scaled in subscripts, which might not be really necessary for such a symbol. 3 I find it easiest just to type $\boxed{\checkmark}$. It's much simpler, however it doesn't come out as well.In the grid of symbols, the check mark is selected. Another check-mark option is available two squares away from it (character code 254). For the checkmark symbol, you can use the amsmath package and use the \checkmark command. For the x-mark symbol, sometimes $\times$ will do.. Other symbols/commands can be found in the pifont package: You need to define first the symbols in a new command

  3. @night owl: I don't think there is an (easy) way to modify the packages' characters. I added a solution using XeLaTeX.
